CLINICAL REACH: OHIO · KENTUCKY · INDIANA
Special Operations & Readiness

Prepare for the work
outside the ordinary.

Clinical input for specialized response environments, with attention to the team, the mission, and the limits of the setting.

Clinical care and medical direction are considered within Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana, subject to applicable credentialing, privileges, agreements, jurisdictional requirements, and availability.

A plan should fit the mission and the people.

Specialized response creates practical questions about preparation, equipment, clinical scope, communication, and transfer of care. UMD’s role is to help teams make those expectations explicit and connect them to training and follow-through.

01

Medical direction for dive, rescue, and special operations teams

Physician medical direction for teams conducting public safety diving and water-based search, rescue, and recovery. Support includes clinical protocols, medical planning for dive operations and training, responder health and safety, and coordination with EMS and receiving facilities. Clinical responsibilities, coverage expectations, and operational boundaries are defined for each engagement.

Dr. Murray’s experience includes current medical direction for Boone County Water Rescue and prior medical direction supporting tactical EMS operations. That background informs an approach grounded in preparation, clear communication, and the clinical needs of personnel working in specialized environments.

02

Readiness and operational planning

Review medical considerations in mission planning, equipment selection, communication, and escalation.

03

Scenario-based preparation

Work through realistic response scenarios and identify the handoffs, decisions, and resource gaps that deserve practice.

04

Responder-focused education

Teach about fatigue awareness, recovery, team communication, and the importance of seeking appropriate personal medical care.

05

Connected clinical review

Use lessons from training and operations to inform the next improvement cycle.

A defined relationship, not an open-ended promise.Specialized clinical activities require the appropriate training, agency authorization, and jurisdictional approvals. Organizational readiness work is not a substitute for individual medical evaluation or occupational clearance.
